Problem Statement
The topic of environmental damage is omnipresent. We would like you to implement technological or scientific systems that help in preventing or reducing the problems with our environment. The systems or their prototypes must be implementable as the selected teams would have to showcase the implemented versions of their abstracts for our fair.

- Exposure of solutions to patent companies who would be visiting the fair.
Phase 1 : Submission of abstracts
Deadline: January 8, 2010
You would have to send the abstract of your solution to rekriti2010@gmail.com by the given deadline. The abstract must be in pdf format and must contain the following details in the given order:
- Name of Solution being proposed (eg: solar water purifier)
- Team Name
- Names of Members with their respective institutes
- Contact number of Team
- Email ID of Team
- Statement of Purpose
- Problem Statement: The environmental problem being considered in two lines(eg: water pollution)
- Function: A two-line summary of what the solution would do
- Reason for Selection of the Problem Statement
- Available Solutions for the selected problem
- Logical Functioning of the solution including a block diagram
- Technical Functioning of the solution with appropriate diagrams
- Materials you would intend to use for the implementation of the solution
- Expected Cost of Manufacturing for a single unit of the solution
- Non-disclaimer statement
Phase 2 : Announcement of Selected Abstracts
There is no cut-off for the number of teams that would be selected for the implementation round. Hence, Rekriti-2010 would follow a Progressive Result System. Within two days of receiving a team's abstract, we would be notifying to the concerned team its selection or disqualification. The selection of abstracts would be done by our expert panel of judges. The sooner a team sends its abstract, the better time it gets to implement its solution. But, no abstract would be entertained after January 8th 2010.
The complete and final list of selected abstracts would be announced on 12th January 2010.
Phase 3 : Display and explanation of implementations
Date: 5th February 2010 (Day 1 of Synapse)
The selected teams would showcase the implementations or prototypes of their solutions to our judges and to the audience in the form of an exhibition. The judging criteria would be based on the effectiveness of the working and the improvement made on available technologies.
Ten teams would be selected for the final round.
Phase 4 : Presentation of Ideas
Date: 6th February (2nd Day of Synapse)
The ten selected teams from Phase 3 would then present their ideas including approach, cost cutting measures, detailed working etc. The presentations of each team would be followed by questions from audience and judges. It is advisable for all selected teams of Phase 3 to come prepared with their presentations as well.
The top three winners would be announced.
Rules of the event
- The maximum size of the team is 4.
- Plagiarism of any sort would lead into disqualification.
- Our judges comprise of experts in the field of innovation and environment from prestigious institutes like Centre for Environmental Education (CEE), National Institute of Design (NID) and ISRO. Hence, the decision of judges would be final.
- Coordinators are allowed to make changes to the event.
- Prizes and recognitions would be given to only those teams that are present for Phase-3.
- Candidates are to bring the materials for their products and their subsequent implementations or prototypes with them. No assistance would be provided for the same.
- Accommodation would be provided to the participants, during Synapse. But the travelling expenditures would not be met.
