Catechize
How would it be if you were asked to become an information packet for a day and made to work your way through a series of routers in the real world?? This is exactly what Catechize is all about. Get your networking knowledge updated if you want to stand a chance.
Event Structure
- Number of Rounds : The event comprises of two phases. A sudden death round will also held in case of any deadlock situation between any team.
- Structure of each round : The Event comprises of 2 Phases.
Phase I - It is conducted in campus and participants are quizzed questions related to the basic understanding of networking and system organization. Based on the performance in this round, the selected teams would proceed to phase II.
Phase II - This round will be conducted online in our campus and will be of 1 hour duration. In this phase selected teams would be grilled for their knowledge in core networking protocol and different kind of layers. Each team is routed through a series of routers located in campus. The teams need to reach destination node through the shortest path. Each team will comprise of 2 participants. It will be analogous to packets being encapsulated with header information at different stages of event. These packets(teams) will be subjected to different network analogies which includes formation of data packet as per the network protocol stack, packet routing(directing to next destination), events such as packet dropping(where teams may be eliminated) etc. - Method for elimination : A team will get eliminated in Round 2 if they give 3 consecutive incorrect answers or end up reaching a limit of 12 routers
- Appropriate venue : Phase I can be held in any LT or in any CEP room depending upon the participation. For Phase II there will router be located throughout the campus.
- Method for deciding winning teams: First 2 Teams reaching the destination router will be declared as winners (1st team will be the one which reaches the destination router earliest.) In case 2 teams don't reach the destination router then those who reach closest to the destination router in the given time duration i.e. 1 hour will be declared as winners.
