  Are you an aspiring coder with an innovative idea? Or are you one who doesn't find just algorithm contest interesting at all? Want to build a application from scratch with your code powering the frontend and backend? This is the chance for you.

  Apps Dreamer is the free form, unstructured, open source software programming contest where you are free to create whatever software you want. All we need is a working, documented application by the submission dates. So whip out your editors.

  Phase 1 result

  The following teams are selected for phase 2 and should submit Phase 2 requirements by the end of the Phase 2 date. 2 teams will be selected as winners.

  Event Structure

  Apps Dreamer is a two stage event, in Phase 1 you are to submit an abstract. Those selected for Phase 2 should have a working application by the end of the Phase 2 submission date. Please also read the Rules.

  Phase 1

  Phase 1 is now finished.

  Phase 2

  Based on the given abstracts, individual team leaders will be sent an e-mail if they are selected for Phase 2. The list of selected teams will also be available on the website. Selected teams should send their working application by the Phase 2 deadline. Teams should send everything mentioned below. This should include:

  1. Application source code as a zip or tar.gz file.
  2. List of dependencies/extra software required for running this application (including their Licenses).
  3. special instruction to run the application(if any)
  4. A PDF containing user documentation. This could include a Quick Start Guide or a small tutorial if your application has some powerful or hard to understand feature.
  5. All of this should be sent in a .tar.gz or .zip file to synapse.appsdreamer2011@gmail.com with the Subject as <TeamCode>_Phase2.

  Rules

  • Each team can have 1-4 members.
  • Number of teams selected for Phase 2 will be either 20 or floor( number of teams in Phase 1 * 0.2 ), whichever is smaller.
  • All code must be distributed under an open source license.
  • Third-party/external libraries may be used, but they must be Open Source too.
  • All participants must be students in a certified undergraduate or graduate institution.
  • Each team may submit only *ONE* project.
  • Teams are allowed to send in changes to both Phase 1 and Phase 2 submissions before the deadline. The latest submission will be considered for evaluation.
  • Teams may change their ideas during Phase 1, but only before the deadline.
  • No change in project will be considered once a team has been selected for Phase 2.
  • Plagiarism will lead to immediate disqualification.
  • The decisions of judges and/or event co-ordinators is final.

  • Start Registration and Phase 1: 22nd November, 2010
  • End of Phase 1: 23:59, 17th January, 2011
  • Result of Phase 1: 20th January, 2011
  • Start of Phase 2: 20th January, 2011
  • End of Phase 2: 23:59, 27th February, 2011
  • Winners Announced: 5th March, 2011
